An iconic landmark in the heart of Bayeux

In the heart of Bayeux, a city of art and history with timeless charm, the hotel Belle Normandy embodies a certain idea of French elegance, where heritage, refinement, and the art of living interwine harmoniously.

A Heritage steeped in History

Behind its discreet façade lies a place deeply steeped in history. The oldest building, erected in 1860, was completed in 1936 with a second building constructed by the Bayeux town. The complex then housed a school, deeply rooted in local life and the daily lives of several generations. 

For decades, these walls echoed with children's laughter, learning, and simple yet essential moments.

From Boys' School to Second chance School

From 1930 to 1970, the school exclusively housed boys. Subsequently, Mr. Charles Letot, the owner at the time, genrously and uniqueley donated the property to the Bayeux town hall, on the condition that it remains dedictad to children.

The school then became a second chance school, welcoming children facing difficulties and teaching them essential skills such as carpentry, pottery, and laundry management. A place of learning, rebuilding, and humanity.

Over time, and with the constraints of meeting current standards, this mission became difficult to maintain. 

The town hall was then forced to sell the property at a public auction in 2019.

The rebirth of the Site by Elodie & Cédric Lecuyer

Driven by a demanding and passionate vision, Elodie and Cedric Lecuyer undertook a major transformation.

Their ambition : to preserve the soul of the place while giving it a new, refined, and welcoming contemporary elegance.

Despite the challenges, particularly the Covid period, the project is coming to fruition, and the hotel Belle Normandy opened its first section in 2021, before being enhanced with an extension is 2023, seamlessly integrated into the existing structure.

Aujourd’hui, l’hôtel se déploie comme une demeure intime et confidentielle. Chaque espace a été pensé comme une invitation à la sérénité. Les matériaux nobles, les lignes épurées et les touches décoratives subtiles composent une atmosphère à la fois raffinée et apaisante.

Ici, le temps semble suspendu, offrant à chaque séjour une expérience hors du commun.

Today, the hotel unfolds like an intimate and secluded retreat. Each space has been designed as an invitation to serenity. Noble materials, clean lines, and subtle touches create an atmosphere that is both refined and soothing. 

Here, time seems to stand fill, offering each stay an extraordinary experience.

A living memory

True to its history, the hotel continues to keep the memories of this place alive. We have had the privilege of welcoming former students who attented the school in the 1940s, 1960s, and even the 2000s. These powerful, emotional moments bear witness to the living memory within these walls
